Google may be moving Google Posts higher up the local panel. Search Engine Roundtable reported the change on 19 October 2026.

For builders, that could make a weekly post more visible. So this guide explains what changed and what to post.

First, a note. This looks like a test, so you may not see it on your own profile.

What Changed

  • Google seems to have moved the Posts section higher in the local knowledge panel.
  • Google moved Posts to the bottom of the panel in 2018, according to the report.
  • Ben Fisher spotted the test. He says posts move up for about three days, then down three days later.
  • Search Engine Roundtable expects that a higher spot will push more businesses to add posts.

So the position may change from day to day. However, a fresh post costs little, and it gives you a chance to stand out.

What Builders Should Post

  • Finished project photos, with the project type and place.
  • Short before-and-after pairs.
  • Seasonal reminders, such as booking surveys before spring.
  • New accreditations or awards.
  • A clear next step, such as call, message or visit your site.

Keep every post honest and specific. Also, ask permission before you show a client or their home. Our guide to a construction case study shows how to turn one job into several posts.

A Simple Weekly Routine

  1. Pick one finished job each week.
  2. Choose two clear photos.
  3. Write two or three short sentences that name the project type and place.
  4. Add a button that links to the matching service page.
  5. Publish the post, then check how it looks in your panel.
  6. Reply to new reviews while you are in your profile.

Also keep a folder of project photos with dates and places, so each post takes five minutes.

Aim for a post every week, because a recent post shows the business is active. Also check for suggested edits, because Google gives you only four days to respond. See our guide to Google Business Profile changes.

Other Profile News This Week

  • On 20 October, Search Engine Roundtable reported that Google is testing government ID uploads to verify Business Profiles.
  • It also reported delays with review appeals.

These are tests and reports, so check Google’s help pages before you change anything. If Google asks for ID, use only the official verification flow in your profile. Never send ID documents to anyone who contacts you offering help. For review tips, read our guide to construction reviews in 2026.
